Emerys has spent her life under her father's strict rule, confined within the castle walls and sheltered from a world she has always longed to understand.
When her mother falls ill, Emerys becomes desperate for answers, determined to find a cure no matter where it takes her. 
Her search leads her somewhere she was never meant to go: a strange world beyond her own. There, she encounters a mysterious man who begins to unravel everything she thought she knew, a man whose very existence felt unnatural.
Yet even after leaving that place behind, Emerys cannot forget him. She finds herself longing for the man she met there, questioning who he was. Why she felt so inexplicably connected to him, and whether their meeting was truly an accident.

But Emerys is not as free from that place as she believes. Though she escaped his realm, she did not escape him, and she unknowingly brings something back with her, something far darker than she could have ever imagined.

Demons begin to seep into her realm and the boundary between their worlds no longer exists. As Emerys searches for answers, she discovers that the stories she was taught to dismiss as legends may be the truth. Forgotten kingdoms begin to surface. Ancient bloodlines are revealed and the darker secrets of her father's rule begin to come to light.

To uncover the truth, Emerys must conceal who she truly is and as she ventures deeper into the past of her own bloodline, she realizes that the darkness surrounding her may not be something she can simply escape.

Along the way, she meets someone else.

He carries no answers for Emerys. In fact, he may have more questions than she does. There is something about him that draws her in. Without trying, without even understanding why, he begins to influence Emerys simply by being himself. Yet his presence only seems to complicate the path ahead. As forces from her past begin to close in around her, reminding her of the person she has become and everything she has tried to forget.

Her desire for freedom slowly becomes an obsession, in which that she cannot leave behind. The past has a way of disguising itself as longing, making what once hurt feel like something worth returning to. She begins to question whether letting go means losing a part of herself, and whether moving forward is truly freedom, if her heart still belongs somewhere else.

Some people may enter your life without explanation and leave a mark you cannot simply erase and forget. Throughout The Archetype, Emerys is forced to confront what it means to let go of the things that have shaped her, even when part of her still longs for them. Because sometimes the hardest thing to escape isn't the darkness itself, but the part of you that still wants to return to it.
